Fun Little Contest

Reward: Creative Bragging Rights. :)

My next book takes place in a fictional small town (it's a romantic comedy and the plot is centered around the town). Although I have a name already chosen, I thought it might be fun to go with a different name chosen through a contest, of sorts.

So here's the deal . . .

If you have any creative/fun/interesting/cute/lame small town name ideas, leave a comment listing as many or as few as you want. One week from today, I'll choose my top 5 choices and post a poll on my blog. For the two weeks following that, anyone can vote, and the winning town name will become the official name of the small town in my next book. (Note: the name will also be part of my title as well).

So what do you say?

I'm so excited to see what all you brilliant people come up with.

  1. I have zero creativity sadly however I love when I hear about towns called strange things like Hell that always kills me

  2. OK, not super creative, but here's a few:

    New Salt Lake

Potato (just in case the town happens to be in Idaho)

Seagull (in case it is in Utah)

    Noseyton

    Silly Springs

ok, enough of my sad attempts! GOod luck :)

  3. I know you can't get away with it in LDS fiction but I think it would be hilarious if you had two neighboring small towns called Hellfire and Damnation. They could have been christened by an itinerant circuit preacher back in the day.

Actually, the whole idea of paired names is funny to me all of a sudden. Like Jacktown and Jillville.

How about Tree Nut Falls? Or Possum Creek? Or . . .

Nope, that's all I have at the moment. Good luck!

Oh, maybe that could be a town name, like Good Luck, Nebraska or Good Luck, Minnesota.

    Okay, now I'm done.

  4. What a great question. It gave me something other than housework to think about. It's more difficult than I thought, but how about:
Tueling Falls, Shady Creek, Oak Rapids,
Falling Rivers, Emerson Falls, Liberty Creek, Connorsville, Snow Creek, Warrior Falls.
