My Forever, by Jolene B. Perry
When Dani, a senior in high school, discovers she's pregnant, AND starts investigating the Mormon church, her father, a pastor, kicks her out of the house. In a matter of months, her life is turned upside down.
In Jolene's words: "My Forever is a novel about the struggle to find the balance between what your head screams for you to do and the power of following the quieter voice inside your heart - wishing for a time when they both say the same thing."
Sounds awesome, right? Well, it is.
I ADORE Jolene, both as a person and as a writer. She is one of those story-tellers who can draw you in immediately and keep you there until the last page. I love her voice. She's an expert at conveying emotion and making the reader feel everything the character experiences.
Three things I loved most about My Forever:
1) Dani's ability to make BIG comebacks. She's one of those characters you want to shake one second and hug the next. Love that.
2) Michael rocks. Flat-out rocks. If I could hand-pick any character to be the future husband of one of my girls, he would be it.
3) The love story. You know those romances that come across as all attraction and zero friendship, and by the end of the story you're thinking, "Yeah right those two people are going to stay together?" Well, if there's one thing I can guarantee, it's that you WON'T feel that way with one of Jolene's books. Her connections are real and genuine. The friendships strong. My Forever is a book that delivers the best kind of happily ever afters because you come away knowing that love connection is a lasting one.
In case you couldn't tell, I LOVED this book and would recommend it to anyone.
